Tappio Ilvestä vastaan

SaiPa jatkoi otteluita kotiottelulla Tampereen Ilvestä vastaan. Ilveksellä on tällä kaudella SaiPan tapaan uusi valmentaja, kun Karri Kivi astui kesällä penkin taakse. SaiPa tuli pirteästi otteluun ja hallitsikin erän ensi minuutteja. SaiPan tämän hetken paras hyökkääjä Hamiltonilla oli mahdollisuus viedä SaiPa jo johtoon, mutta Ilveksen maalilla pelannut Hannu Toivonen torjui hyvin. Oliko Ilveksellä hieman bussijalat, kun mitä pidemmälle erää mentiin sai vierasjoukkue pelin hallinnan itselleen. Hallinnan myötä Ilves siirtyi ensimmäisen erän loppupuolella 2 nopealla maalilla 0-2 johtoon.

Toisen erän alussa Ilves lisäsi johdon jo 0-3 ja tuntui, että SaiPa ei saa ollenkaan pelistä kiinni. Erän ehdottomasti mielenkiintoisin tilanne nähtiin, kun Ilves pelaajan maila osui Mcfarlandia kasvoihin ja pelaaja lähti verta vuotavana pukukoppiin. Suurin osa yleisöstä odotti Ilves pelaajalle 5+20 min jäähyä korkeasta mailasta, mutta tuomari päätti antaa 2 min kyynärpäätaklauksesta. Pelaajat olivat jo jatkamassa peliä, kun toinen päätuomareista päätti käydä SaiPan pukukoppissa tarkistamassa McFarlandin kunnon. Tuomiota ei voinut enää kumota, vaan annettu rangaistus jäi voimaan. McFarlandilta murtui tilanteessa nenä ja joutuu jatkotutkimuksiin. Tästä vääryydestä SaiPa sai lisää virtaa ja alkoi hallita peliä. Toivosen hyvät torjunnat Ilves maalissa pitivät SaiPan nollilla. SaiPan painostus tuotti lopulta erän lopussa tulosta kun Mikael Kuronen survoi maalin edestä 1-3 kavennuksen.

Kolmanteen erään tultiin samalla lailla miten toinen erä päättyi. SaiPa hyökkäsi vimmatusti ja Ilves pyrki vain puolustamaan ja purkamaan kiekkoa. Onneksi kotijoukkue sai nopean maalin erän alkuun, kun jälleen Hamilton onnistui maalinteossa. Hamilton oli päättänyt antaa joukkueelle mahdollisuuden voittoon, kun hetkeä myöhemmin hän karkasi läpiajoon ja pisti kiekon Toivosen längeistä maaliin. Näin SaiPa oli noussut 0-3 tilanteesta 3-3 ja tässä tilanteessa mentiin jatkoajalle. Jatkoajalla Maalahti sai jäähyn koukkamisesta ja Ilves pääsi pelamaan ylivoimaa 4-3 vastaan. Ilves ei jättänyt tätä tilaisuutta käyttämättä vaan teki voittomaalin ja voitti ottelun 3-4. Näin ollen SaiPa sai vain ottelusta 1 pisteen. Itseäni jäi ainankin vähän harmittamaan tulos, koska niin hyvän 3.erän kotijoukkue pelasi.
